Form FGM001 is the application for a female genital mutilation (FGM) protection order under Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003. The order protects a girl against FGM, or a girl against whom it has been committed.

Who uses the FGM001

The girl to be protected, or a relevant third party such as a local authority. Anyone else needs the court's permission on Form FGM006. The NSPCC FGM helpline is 0800 028 3550. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.

When it is used

When a girl is at risk of FGM, or has been subjected to it. The court can hear the application without notice in urgent cases.

What happens after you send it

The application is served on the respondents and the person to be protected. FPR rule 11.4 says the court serves it if an applicant acting in person asks. You can prepare the form in Wren once it is available in the Forms list. Wren does not file, serve or send anything for you.
