Family court deadline calculator

Court orders and rules often say something must be done a number of days before a hearing, or within a number of days after an event. Put in the date and the number of days and this works out the last day, using the same counting as the deadlines inside Wren.

Is the deadline before or after that date?
What kind of days?

Enter a date and a number of days to see the deadline.

How the days are counted

  • The day of the hearing or event is never counted (Family Procedure Rules 2010, rule 2.9).
  • Clear days means the whole number of days must fall between the deadline and the hearing, so neither end counts.
  • Where a period is 7 days or less, weekends and bank holidays do not count (rule 2.9(4)). Choose working days for those.
  • Bank holidays come from the GOV.UK list for England and Wales, which we hold for 2019 to 2028.
  • If your order gives a date or a time of day, follow the order.

Not sure which deadlines apply to you? The guides list them for each hearing.
